Appearance & Property: Pure product is colorless crystal, slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in alkaline solution such as soda ash and caustic soda. It acts brownish red with the ferric chloride solution. The acid salt has a red fluorescence of microstrip blue, which turns reddish purple when added with alkali.

Uses: is an important intermediate for the manufacture of azo dyes.
